SCG Foundation supports Thai vocational students at WorldSkills Competition 2017 in Abu Dhabi, UAE

Mr. Kajohndet Sangsuban, Executive Director, SCG Foundation, presented 1.4 million baht to the Department of Skill Development, Labour Ministry, to support holders of “Vocational Students Build the Nation” scholarships while in training to compete in the “WorldSkills Competition 2017” in the bricklaying and flower arranging categories. The competition will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. M.L. Puntrik Smiti, Permanent Secretary, Labour Ministry, accepted the cash sponsorship on behalf of the ministry.

The WorldSkills Competition is a leading global competition in which vocational students under the age of 25 from 50 countries around the world compete. Held every two years, the 2017 competition will be the 44th competition and will be held during October 14-19, 2017 in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

In Thailand, the Department of Skill Development, Labour Ministry, is the main government agency responsible for supporting Thai vocational students in the competition. This year, SCG Foundation is sponsoring two representatives from the “Vocational Students Build the Nation” programme – “Jack” Pongsakorn Pramkasem and “Pom” Pramote Karam – in the global competition’s bricklaying and flower arranging categories, respectively. SCG Foundation believes in the importance of building opportunities and enhancing the capabilities of youth, and hopes to see vocational students continue to become the driving force behind Thailand’s growth.
